The journey begins . . .

MARCH 31 The journey really started many months before with 14 people and our team leader, Bro John Crocker, being called by God to reach out to His people and His church in Sighisoara, Romania. Working with Mana Church and pastor Pilu Hadarean to conduct evangelistic outreach and training for his church and 5 mission churches planted in surrounding villages. Pastor Pilu is Romanian, but felt called to minister mainly to the Roma (gypsy) community which has been treated as outcasts for over 1000 years. Many days of preparation and prayer led us to the first day of this journey.

I arrived in Sighisoara a week early to make some preparations for the arriving team on April 1st. Just before our journey began, we discovered the team would arrive with many others coming for the Bucharest NATO Summit 2-4 April. Romania announced in February that they would close the airport for 3 days (2-4th), restrict roads, increase security to the maximum it has ever been, and even the residents around the Summit area would not be able to even open their windows for 3 days! President Bush would arrive the evening of April 1st.

The team went to the airport today for their 1:30PM flight to Washington, DC./Munich/Bucharest, to find it had been canceled! Quickly, the travel agent re-booked 6:00PM flights to Washington/Frankfurt/Bucharest. Everyone returned home to start again later. The only 3 problems: 1. If they canceled this last flight, the airport in Bucharest would be closed for 3 days and we would have to cancel the mission journey; 2. the connection in Washington was only 45 minutes - hope the luggage will transfer; and 3. arriving so late in Bucharest - 5:10pm - would put them in Sighisoara at 11:00pm at the earliest with no delays. God will have to make the way that the enemy has tried to block!

I stayed up until their flight left Huntsville, Praise God!
